Super September, aka Majedie vs nature

August 30, 2013

Only a few day remain until Super September. September is the month in which almost every member of Majedie is taking on at least one extraordinary challenge. Here is a quick run down of events.

Sat 7th: The Great River Race – 16 Maj-ites battle the tempestuous Thames in an effort to make it through 21 miles of choppy, seal-infested, not-as-clean-as-one-might-hope waters with nothing but a hardy dragon boat and some excellent guidance from the London Regatta Center. Please wish us luck; after just three practice sessions, we’ll need it.

Dragon Boat Team: Class of 2013

Sun 8th: Matthew Jowers cycles though 54 miles of England’s green and pleasant lands from the Capital to the Brighton coast, powering his way past some 2000 other cyclists in order to catch a few waves before returning back to work the next day. Someone get that man a cushion!

Fri 20th: 5 Intrepid hikers, 2 drivers and 1 latecomer plan to walk upon England’s mountains green. And Scotland’s. And Wales’s. They are going to attempt an incredible 27miles with a total ascent of 9,800ft in just 24 hours. This is on top of driving around 600 miles. It could only be… The Three Peaks Challenge. To put that in context, imagine walking more than a marathon, while simultaneously climbing a 1/3 of Everest on no sleep while also driving 6/10 of what a Proclaimer would walk just to fall down at your door…in 24 hours. This is a truly awesome task so good luck all! Special thank you here goes to Northgate Vehicle Hire for the use of their mini-bus. Without it, we would not get very far at all!

Sat 28th: While the M-Team is still to be confirmed exactly for this, several member of Majedie are going to walk a marathon. In the dark. Wearing fluro. Go team Shine Marathon!

As always, Majedie are exceptionally grateful for any donation and the overwhelming generosity of both sponsors and supporters has been amazing. Thank you so very much, your donations will be put to good use by Cancer Research, Tommys and Richard House Hospice.
